The Ada Jenkins Food Pantry, a partner of Nourish Up, allows clients to shop for their own groceries based on a nutritionally balanced shopping list provided by Nourish Up. The shopping list indicates how many items one may choose in each food category. Volunteers assist and help identify how many items from a category a client may take.

Free produce, for anyone who needs it, anytime of day!  The Community Refrigerator at the Ada Jenkins Center, built by Cornelius Eagle Scout Drew Pappas, is based on the popular idea of the Little Free Book Libraries — where people can grab a book anytime they like. Built like a large closet, the Community Refrigerator is stocked with fresh produce, next to shelves of canned, packaged, and bakery goods. It is open to everyone 24 hours a day, year-round, outside of our food pantry entrance.

For now, the Community Refrigerator stores only produce — no meat, dairy or prepared foods. Three times each week, Ada Jenkins Center volunteers stock the fridge with excess fruits and vegetables that are donated to the pantry. At this time, community donations are not needed; we want to first determine the need and usage of the Community Refrigerator, ensuring that everything meets food safety guidelines.

No referrals needed, no questions asked. Read more about Drew’s Eagle Scout project here.
